We Are Building Turtle Guardian Headquarters

November 16, 2018 Leave a Comment

Stay tuned as we get the new Turtle Guardian headquarters in shape. Located at the Haliburton Highlands Hatchery and Outdoors Association, the new headquarters will be the home for 5 teaching turtles! These are live turtles who cannot be returned to the wild because of injury or displacement. The new centre will be the location for our Guardian training camps, where kids learn to identify turtles, conduct turtle tunnel and road reconnaissance, how to monitor wetlands for turtle populations and more...

We are also busy writing the Turtle Guardians curriculum that will be taught in local schools...and across the province, thanks to our partners at the Trillium Lakelands District School Board, and ESRI Canada. Curriculum will also include ESRI map boards and software, where students can actually design turtle conservation projects.

We will hold our first annual Turtle Guardian Gala and Award ceremony when we officially open the centre.

Keep in touch via our social media links or through our newsletter.
