Wake Robin Studio has a proposal to support turtle conservation and awareness:
The Proposal:
To develop a collection of prints and drawings focused on the plight of the turtles of Eastern Canada. The collection will be exhibited first at the Stone School Gallery in Portage du Fort, Quebec, under the auspices of artPontiac.
Local organizations (conservation, naturalists) will be invited to contribute posters, educational material and speakers. One day will be set aside during the Exhibition, for a children’s workshop (Turtlemania?), to make turtle prints, which would be incorporated in the show, locally.
From there, opportunities will be identified to show the prints, along with the educational material, at other galleries, municipal buildings, museums, libraries, in the region and beyond.
We are not limited to local artists. The Call is for artists who feature or wish to contribute to this show, across Ontario and Quebec.
Over time, the collection could gather more work from artists (and children) in new venues with the larger objective of preserving wetlands, and turtles outside the Ottawa valley. The final product would be a book of submitted prints (and drawings) of turtles, based on the exhibitions, with the major portion of proceeds to support turtle rehabilitation and conservation efforts with our NFP partners.
If you would like to be part of the initial Exhibition at the Stone School Gallery, please let me know by Feb 28 at cheryl@wakerobinstudio.ca
Deadline for submission of at least 2 images (for posters/publicity) is 30 April, 2022.
