Importance of Turtles

SnappingTurtle

All turtles in Canada are endangered of becoming extinct.

2/3rds of the worlds turtles are also facing extinction.

Turtles are often misunderstood. They can take up to 60 years to replace themselves in Nature. They are keystone species that hold up entire foodwebs because they provide invaluable services as "janitors" and "gardeners" of lakes and wetlands, making sure these ecosystems are healthy.

Turtles also know exactly where they are and where they are going. They should not be relocated as they will likely suffer and die.

Learn about these amazing friends, on your journey as a Turtle Guardian.
