Turtle Walk 2018

Join our Turtle Walk 2018
Save the dates: Saturday May 26th to Saturday June 2nd.

This is the Flowering Moon; the most active time for turtle nesting in central Ontario.

We plan to walk in 6 locations across The Land Between (Ontario's turtle country) in: Bracebridge, Haliburton, Bancroft, Fenelon Falls/Bobcaygeon, Lindsay and Peterborough. Please stay tuned for exact dates and locations.

Walks are to raise awareness and to gain pledges and support for our Tunnel and Trauma campaign, to save Ontario's turtles.

Too, we are launching a dedicated TurtleWalk.ca website.

  1. I would like to know what the turtle walk involves. I live on 25 acres near Bancroft and have volunteered for the turtle care centre in Ottawa. Retired scientist. I protect nests and help hatchlings to water every year. Would like to do more but if this is an activity geared to kids I’m not interested. Maybe there’s some other way I could help?

    1. Hi Susan,
the turtle walks are open to the public, although we expect a lot of kids there and are gearing a lot of our PR and programming to kids so they become future eco-leaders. We have many opportunities for volunteering and would love your help. Besides the turtle walk, where we would need some volunteer chaperones at the walk, there are opportunities for road segment reconnaissance to assess sites for tunnel/fencing installations; and of course marsh monitoring and reporting of turtle counts….
Feel free to give me a call to discuss at your convenience.
