Level 1 – Turtle ID & Turtle Camp

To become a Level 1 Guardian, all you need to do is learn to identify each of Ontario's turtles, and report sightings of them! You can do this on your own by downloading the Turtle Guardian App, and taking the turtle test. We have lots of resources to help you learn about  turtles too, on our website and also through our online store. Also you can attend a turtle-y cool workshop throughout the year. Check out our events calendar for details.

Turtle Camp- CANCELLED FOR 2020

Each summer, The Turtle Guardian Headquarters in Haliburton, and Scales Nature Park in Orillia offers Turtle Camp.

Turtle  camp is for kids ages 7-12

Here kids will learn;

  • How to identify all 8 species of turtles in Ontario
  • How to identify baby turtles/hatchlings
  • What turtles nests and eggs look like
  • How to help turtles across roads safely
  • Fun turtle facts

Kids also interact with our Teaching Turtles; they feed them, give Jeremiah physiotherapy and a massage.

Finally, kids will learn about habitats and other wildlife found in wetlands, streams, lakes and ponds

At the end of turtle camp, kids will take their Turtle Guardian ID test, to receive their level 1 guardianship
