Support turtle conservation

The Symbolic Adoption Program

75% of North America's freshwater turtles are at risk of disappearing due primarily to road mortality and also to development of their wetland habitats.

Turtles clean our water by removing dead fish and animal carcasses and they also are incredible gardeners, spreading seeds and life to new places.

Turtles have been around since before the dinosaurs and they are now disappearing.

You can help by symbolically adopting a hatchling through Turtle Guardians' official Adoption program! Symbolic hatchling adoptions help us head-start next generations. They make the perfect gift for the turtle lover in your life!

What is a symbolic adoption? A symbolic adoption does not involve the physical adoption of a hatchling. It is symbolic in the sense that the funds provided help support Turtle Guardians hatchling incubation-release program, where we excavate eggs from at-risk nests, incubate them under permit at our headquarters, and release the hatchlings into the wild to give them a better shot at life. Under this program, hatchlings have a 19x greater chance at surviving to adulthood than if we had not intervened! It will also be used to help care for our turtles-in-care at our headquarters!

Two options for symbolic adoption!

Turtle Guardians has been working since 2006 to research, protect, and conserve freshwater turtles in Ontario, Canada and North America. Launched in 2022, our official Turtle and Hatchling Adoption Program allows turtle lovers to support our work to prevent injuries to turtles on roads, and to headstart hatchlings, through a symbolic adoption.
