Emy
Emy came to us in spring 2022. We don’t know a lot about her background, but we do know that she was kept as a pet (illegally) in Alberta for several years. Blanding's turtles are not found in western Canada.
Without a point of origin, Emy cannot be legally released into the wild. She was sent to Little ResQ who contacted us to find Emy a permanent home. Once we got permits, we were able to pick her up!
Emy is an adult Blanding’s Turtle (so over 18). We have not aged her, but we do know from another study in the US, that the oldest Blanding’s Turtle found in the wild was over 80 years old!
You might say Emy is the most charismatic teaching turtle - but maybe that’s just because she’s always smiling. She is also a great star of our annual calendar- fundraiser. She loves to meet people, and show off by diving off her platform and blowing bubbles! However, Emy is also the most likely to pee or poop on you.
