Blueberry

Blueberry

Blueberry Dovreshin

Blueberry Dovreshin was surrendered to the BC Conservation Service of Environment Canada after being kept illegally as a pet. Blueberry is a juvenile Snapping Turtle. We believe he was taken as a pet, likely originating from Central America, due to his large barbels and different sized scutes. He also has upturned nails, likely from being kept on the floor too often or from an injury in captivity. Surrendered pet turtles cannot be released into the wild because it is illegal to relocate turtles away from their home territories, and since we don't know where he originated from, he cannot simply be displaced or released. We agreed to adopt Blue as a Teaching Turtle- saving him from being euthanized - and to give him a better life. His middle name is to honor the conservation officer who kept him for a year and searched tirelessly for a home for him.

Blue is feisty! He snaps at the air! However, he loves butt scratches and is getting more used to human interactions. He is the baby in residence measuring about 8 inches.
